Leonard Andrew “Andy” Gray, aged 84, died on December 13, 2025. Born in Dinuba, California and raised in Carthage, Missouri.
After graduation from Carthage High School, Andy enlisted in the US Army and was stationed at the Nike Apex Missile Base in Swansea, MA.
During this time, he met his wife of 63 years Carole (Lord) Gray. Andy settled into New England working as a carpenter and later attending Southeastern Massachusetts Technical Institute earning a degree in Biology and teaching science at Joseph Case High School in Swansea, MA, where he inspired generations of students.
Along with his dedication to teaching, Andy continued building homes and using his skills as a carpenter. Over the years, he called home Fall River, Somerset, Rehoboth, Berkley, MA, New Bern, NC, and Tiverton, RI.
Building homes and teaching science, both careers are representative of his nature. His wisdom as a carpenter and his joy of boating and fishing have been passed down for generations.
He was beloved by his son, Paul (Julie) and his daughter Sheryl (Rick) and his grandchildren Michael (Becky), Sam, Drew, Alexa, and Zachary, and his great grandchildren Maya and Max.
In addition, he leaves his sister Barbara Back, his in-laws, Nancy Camara and Joe Lord (Debbie) whom he loved as siblings. Andy will be missed by many and remembered for his can-do attitude, generous spirit, kind heart, and love of life.
Private arrangements are entrusted to the Auclair Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either Wounded Warriors Project or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
