Karen R. (Kerr) DeLeon, 58, of Fall River, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with kidney disease. She was the wife of Ernest P. DeLeon, with whom she shared 40 years of marriage.
Born in Lakeview, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Carolyn R. (Hudson) Thompson.
Karen devoted her career to the human service field, working as a phlebotomist where she served people in need with compassion and care,as well as many years working with adults with developmental disabilities. Her commitment to helping others was a defining characteristic of her life, reflecting her generous spirit and unwavering dedication.
Outside of her work, Karen found joy in simple and meaningful pleasures. She took great delight in watching her grandsons play baseball and basketball, a pastime that brought her immense pride and happiness. Karen’s creative side was expressed through her love of diamond art, knitting and various other arts and crafts projects/activities that allowed her to share her creativity and artistry with those around her. She also enjoyed going shopping, and watching TV. She was an avid fan of The Food Network, TLC and many of the medical related drama shows. She also took great pride in spending time with her beloved cats Maurice and Chip.
She was the mother of Edith Zonfrillo (late husband Dennis), Jennifer DeLeon (companion Kyle Machado) and the late Thomas Kerr; Grandmother of Riley Kerr, Tristan Jussaume, and Kaelynn Sousa; Daughter-in-law of Dolores DeLeon; Sister of Patricia Sanders, and April Thompson; and Aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Karen's Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S. Main St., Fall River.
Her Funeral will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 9:00 A.M., from the Auclair Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St, Fall River. Burial to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
