John C. Mendonca, 55, of Fall River, a devoted family man, skilled mechanic, and dedicated construction worker, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026. He was born on April 4, 1970, in São Jorge, Azores.
John was the loving husband of Jacqueline (Merkt) Ferreira Mendonca.
John began his journey by graduating from Diman Regional Technical Vocational High School. Upon graduating at age 18 he proudly joined the Army Reserves while in the Army Reserves he worked as a Mechanic and eventually owned his own business. John was also a union member most recently working for Local Union 385 as a CDL driver / Laborer.
John is remembered as a friendly man who could put a smile on anyone's face and for his unwavering loyalty to his family and friends.
John’s interests included working on cars, camping, going to the gym, enjoyed walks on the beach with his wife and dog
Besides his wife of 32 years, he leaves his two stepsons, Joseph Merkt and Richard Ferreira; one sister, Maria Da Gloria Soares, eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
John was the son of the late Jose Melo Mendonca and Maria M. (DaSilva) Mendonca and the brother of the late Jose Luis Mendonca, Maria Fatima Mendonca, Rosa D, Mendonca and the uncle of the late Fabio Soares.
A visitation will be held Thursday, April 9 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.
His funeral will be held Friday, April 10 at 9:00 AM from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass at Santo Christo Church at 10:00 AM.
Burial will follow at Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
