Joan (Seneca) Boyer, 88, of Assonet, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born on August 1, 1937, in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late James E. Seneca and Alice (St. Michel) Seneca.
She will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her sharp sense of humor, and the way that she truly knew how to enjoy life. She was adventurous, spirited, and the center of attention at every gathering. She loved to eat out at restaurants, participate in the community life at Christian Life Church, host gatherings, sip a large Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, watch horror movies, and root for the Patriots.
Joan was deeply compassionate and spent her life caring for others. She dedicated over thirty years of service to the Registration Department at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
Above all, Joan cherished her family and friends. She shared over fifty years with her late husband, Edward R. Boyer. She explored the world and was inseparable from her sister, Dorothy J. Clarke.
She was the loving, loyal and supportive mother of Edward K. Boyer and the late James J. Boyer and Brittney Boyer. Joan was also the proud and devoted grandmother of Seneca Edward Boyer, Talia Lee Boyer Goncalves, and Jimmy Fitzpatrick. Her legacy will continue through her great-grandchildren, Tiago, Filipe, Brycen, and Bryar, who brought her great joy.
A visitation to honor Joan’s life will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main Street in Fall River, with a funeral service to follow in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery on Robeson Street in Fall River.
