Jeffrey A. Szelag

Jeffrey Alan Szelag, 65, a longtime resident of Tiverton, Rhode Island, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026. An accomplished engineer, Jeff devoted many years to his work at NUWC and Electric Boat. He was a proud graduate of Tiverton High School and was inducted into the Tiverton High School Athletics Hall of Fame for his achievements in Basketball. He earned his bachelor's degree from New England Institute of Technology.

Jeff's life was filled with a passion for sports, running, and cars. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, especially enjoying many sporting activities of his beloved grandsons.

Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Joseph E. Szelag Jr. and Nancy A. (Furtado) Szelag.

He is survived by his two daughters: Heather Fournier, her husband Dillon, along with their sons Owen and Parker; Amy Dowty and her husband JR, and their sons Jaxson and Colton. Jeff also leaves his brother, Joseph Randy Szelag; former spouse Denise Szelag; a niece, Alicia Delaney, and three nephews, Mark Mello, Adam Lavoie, and Matthew Lavoie. Jeff also leaves many dear friends.

Jeff will be fondly remembered for his dedication to family and the joy he found in their achievements and shared moments.

His visitation will be held Tuesday, September 29, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.

A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, October 1, at 10:00 AM (Family will receive guests starting at 9:00 AM) Burial will be at Pocasset Hill Cemetery.
