Jeanne Marie Laureanno

September 17, 1938 — September 26, 2025

Fall River

Jeanne Marie (Legendre) Laureanno, 87, of Fall River, Massachusetts, was most certainly greeted by the singing of angels as she was reunited with her beloved husband, Frank, on September 26, 2025. Born September 17, 1938, to the late Doris Scottson and Albert Legendre - just five days before the Great New England Hurricane - Jeanne was lovingly raised by her grand-mère, Josephine, and grand-père, Henry Michaud.

Jeanne was predeceased by her parents; her parents-in-law, Lena and Frank Laureanno; her brother-in-law Joe Laureanno and his wife, Elizabeth; her sister-in-law, Mary Melia; and her nephew, Joseph Laureanno.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Nicolau (Wayne); her sons, Michael Laureanno (Carol), Frank Laureanno (Connie), and Thomas Laureanno; her grandsons, Kyle Cusick (Mandy), Sean Cusick (Maddie), and Dan Laureanno (Kim); her great-grandson, Brandon Cusick; and her great-great-granddaughter, Juniper. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Jenny Pope (Gene), Veronica Matula (Fred), Laura Laureanno (Bill Ridder), and Helen Silva (the late Jim Silva); her brother-in-law, Manuel Laureanno (Dorothy); and many loving nieces and nephews.

A lifelong resident of Fall River, Jeanne graduated from Girls’ Diman Vocational High School and married Frank in 1956. Together they raised their daughter and three sons, and their home became a welcoming hub for neighborhood kids thanks to Jeanne’s warm, open heart.

Jeanne worked at Bristol Knitting Mills, served as a quality control supervisor at Hasbro Toy Co., and later found her calling as a certified nurse’s aide at Catholic Memorial Nursing Home on Unit 7, where, years later, she would become a resident herself. She received excellent care there, and with the support of South Coast Hospice, she was kept comfortable in her final days.

In her youth, she proudly called herself a tomboy, playing kick-the-can and softball - most often at third base or shortstop. At age 12 she sold lemonade on a street corner and, after crafting her own shoeshine box, shined shoes outside a bar on East Main Street.

A nurturing and devoted wife and mother, Jeanne’s true gifts were many. Her legacy is one of selflessness. It was not unusual to find her delivering home-cooked meals to friends or giving rides to hair appointments and doctor visits - always with empathy, kindness, and compassion. Even as she battled Alzheimer’s, her sweet nature shone through; in the early days of her illness, she could often be found helping fellow residents with their walkers and wheelchairs.

Jeanne embraced her role on this earth as a caregiver, a helper, and a shoulder to lean on. She was a gentle soul who will be dearly missed. As the saying goes, “Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.” Jeanne changed the world around her for the better with her thoughtful kindness. In her memory, the family asks that you consider doing a kind deed for someone in need today.
