Jay J. Lambert

Atty. Jay J. Lambert 82 , of Pennsylvania, formerly of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, passed away on June 15, 2025.

He was the husband of the late DR. Barbara A. (Salago) Lambert, M.D.

Jay J. Lambert was a 1968 graduate of Villanova University School of Law and a graduate of Providence College. A proud Fall River son, Jay was a graduate of Durfee High School. He made his career in Philadelphia after joining the global law firm of Duane Morris LLC where he became a partner of the firm and practiced law in the areas of product liability, professional liability, and drug and medical device litigation.

Following his retirement from law, Jay returned to his roots settling in Portsmouth and Tiverton RI where he pursued his passion for Fall River history ultimately becoming President of the Fall River Historical Society and Lizzie Borden Society. Jay spent a decade researching and writing a definitive history of the area in his book American Textile Colossus: The Story of Fall River, Massachusetts, its Cotton Manufacturing Industry, and its People.

Jay entered local politics succeeding in election to become Town Council President of Tiverton for 2 terms.

He spent time designing and building a family home on the Sakonnet River, collecting and refurbishing vintage carousel horses, driving his beloved red Mustang convertible and building library shelves to house the Lamberts considerable collection of books.

He greatly enjoyed taking on his full-time role as Grandpa to his grandchildren to whom he loved to sneak candy.

He leaves two daughters, Kimberly Jewell Gastauer (husband Keith) and Alison Lambert. He was the father of the late John Lambert and the beloved grandfather of Preston Miles Gastauer and Kalani Jewell Gastauer. He was the son of the late Georgeanna Jewell, and he also leaves his extended family, Thelma and William Johnson.

Visitation Friday, June 20, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St., Fall River.

His funeral will be held Saturday, June 21 at 9:30 A.M. at the Auclair Funeral Home with a burial following at Notre Dame Cemetery.
