Gerald P. Cote, 85, of Fall River, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025. He was the husband of Florence C. (Mardula) Cote with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Gerald made significant contributions to his community through various business ventures and his vibrant personality.
Born in Fall River, Gerald was the son of the late Virginia (Cipollini) and Joseph A. Cote.
Gerald was a well-known figure in the local business scene, having owned several properties and businesses that endeared him to many. He served as a real estate agent and was the former owner of Nick's Coney Island Hot Dogs in Fall River, Highland Mini Market Liquor Store in Fall River, and Jerry's Cigar Store in Providence. Additionally, he brought joy to many as an employee of Foxwoods Casino, where his engaging demeanor brightened the atmosphere.
A proud graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Gerald carried a zest for life throughout his years. He found immense pleasure in going fishing, traveling, and taking cruises. His love for 50's music filled his home, while evenings were often spent engrossed in true crime stories. Gerald had fun in playing scratch tickets. Gerald had a remarkable ability to bring laughter to those around him, embodying a jovial spirit as a beloved jokester who cherished making others smile. He was also a proud grandfather and loved spending time with his granddaughters.
Besides his loving wife, Gerald is survived by his children, Heidi Cote, Gerald M. Cote (wife Chikage Imai-Cote), and Austin G. Cote; his granddaughters, Anya Imai-Cote and Kaya Imai-Cote; his sister, Maureen Pereira (late husband Raymond); his nephew, Douglas Ferreira (husband Jack Barbosa); his niece, Wendy Hewitt; as well as his great niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tiffany Cote Machado.
