George Kenneth Harrington, of Fall River, passed away at the age of 97 on July 25th after a long and fulfilling life.
George was born on May 19, 1928, in Fall River, MA. He was the son of the late Claire (Buron) and William H. Harrington. George graduated from Durfee High School. After graduation, he pursued studies in both culinary and musical arts. He was an accomplished chef and pianist.
He lived life to the fullest and especially loved travelling in his younger years to Europe and India. He lived in Nantucket, Maine, and Fall River, MA. George enjoyed traveling and photography and was truly a “free spirit”. He worked in New York, Newport, RI, as a chef and eventually owned his own restaurant (Sam's) in Fall River, MA.
George was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
His caring and empathy for other people were evident in his daily actions and how he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He volunteered for many years with "Meals on Wheels".
George is survived by his nieces and nephews, Kathleen Freund, Donna Harrington, William Harrington, Suzanne Bier Harrington, Armand Guimar Jr., and Janice Sullivan. He was predeceased by his loving wife and longtime sweetheart, June A. Camara Harrington; His siblings, William Harrington (his late wife Gloria), Edward Harrington (his late wife Helen), Lorraine Harrington Wyke (her late husbands Armand Guimar Sr. and Peter Wyke); his nephews, Jeffrey and Michael Harrington.
