Ellen E. (Bond) Tavares

Ellen E. (Bond) Tavares, 76, of Tiverton, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026. She was the wife of Leonard B. Tavares, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage. 

Born in Newport, Ellen was the daughter of the late Robert and Ellen (Jennings) Bond. 

She was an avid player of Sudoku and took great delight in completing crossword puzzles. Ellen had a "green thumb" and loved gardening.

Ellen liked to go golfing, often spending precious time on the green with her husband. Together, they created countless memories on the course, enjoying both the sport and each other’s companionship. She also had a love for music and dancing, which served as a favorite pastime during gatherings with friends.

She loved to travel, visiting numerous destinations, with a particular fondness for Bermuda. Having gone on over 20 cruises, she experienced the world from different vantage points, making friends and collecting stories along the way.

Ellen joins her late beloved son, Joseph Hunt. 

Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her children James Hunt (wife Cindy); her step-daughter Robin Breault (husband Jason); grandmother to Sean Hunt, Aiden Hunt, Tyler Breault; sister of Robert Bond, the late Barbara Hardy, and the late Frank Bond.
