Elizabeth “Betty” (Auclair) Cookson, 80, of Tiverton, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025. She was the devoted wife of Richard Cookson, with whom she shared 40 years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Albert G. and Alice (Rioux) Auclair.

She worked for many years at Crawford House and Highlander Nursing Home, where she touched countless lives with her compassion, sharp wit, and her extraordinary ability to connect with residents, patients, and their families.
Betty enjoyed card games and reading, but her greatest joy was travel. She explored Europe, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and many other destinations alongside
her husband, relatives, and friends. Whether on the road or at home, she will be remembered for her humor, loyalty, and kindness.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Rachel E. Berube and Derrick A. Remy (fiancée Heather), and by her stepchildren Deborah Nickerson (husband Rudolf), Laurie Peckham (husband Shawn), and Richard Cookson Jr. (wife Suzanne). She also leaves her sister Paulette Barselou (late husband Daniel) and her brother Atty. Robert A. Auclair (late wife Francine); as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son David A. Remy (wife Susan) and her brother Charles Auclair.
