Dino A. Bissaro, 89, of Fall River, passed away June 8, 2022. Born in Fall River on September 25, 1932, he was the son of Celina (Gamache) Bissaro and Augustus Bissaro; husband of 63 years to Mary (Fallows) Bissaro, who predeceased him in 2020. He raised three children, Diane Bissaro of Watertown, Andrew Bissaro of Brighton, and David Bissaro of Swansea, who predeceased him in 1998. Dino also leaves three grandchildren, Jake Bissaro, Amelia Bissaro, and Sam Allen.
Dino, who lost his right arm in a childhood gun accident due to an improperly stored firearm, never let the disability slow him down. An avid gardener throughout his life, Dino was active in local youth sports, umpiring baseball games in the Flint and Maplewood neighborhoods, coaching CYO basketball, and playing Bocce with the Somerset Bocce League. Dino spent summers bringing the family to Sachuest beach in Middletown RI, where he loved body-surfing and fraternizing with his beach buddies. Upon retirement from his job managing customer service for George Mann & Co. in Providence RI, Dino transferred his well-known tenacity to political activism. You would often find Dino out supporting local candidates and speaking on behalf of the Niagara Neighborhood Association, which he presided over for several years, making friends and a few enemies along the way. In recognition of his many contributions to the city of Fall River, Dino was awarded the key to the city by Mayor Will Flanagan in 2011. Private funeral arrangements entrusted to Auclair Funeral Home. A private celebration of life will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Massachusetts Audubon Society.
