In Loving Memory of David Ploude Sr.
David Ploude, Sr., 63, of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Alice Marjorie (Damas) Ploude and the late Napoleon Albert Ploude of Swansea.
For many years, David dedicated himself to his work at New England Piping and Welding, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. Earlier in his career, he was the proud owner of Faneek’s Coney Island Restaurant in Fall River, a place that reflected his entrepreneurial spirit and love of bringing people together through good food and conversation, a legacy that remains in the family.
A natural problem solver, David was truly a jack-of-all-trades. He had a gift for fixing things, building things, and figuring out how things worked. He loved handyman projects and could often be found working on something around the house, always ready to lend his skills to family, friends, or anyone who needed help. His resourcefulness, determination, and willingness to step in and help others were hallmarks of who he was and how he lived his life.
Whether working with his hands or running a business, David took pride in doing things the right way and giving his best to everything he undertook.
David is survived by his children, Kevin Ploude of New Bedford and Kaitelyn A. Medeiros and her husband, Alex, of Swansea; his soulmate, Shelly Kimball Ploude, of Florida; and his siblings:
Marjorie Carpenter and her late husband, Robert, of Somerset; Shirley Haggerty of Pompano Beach, Florida; Patricia Pausek of Swansea; Janice Snider of Hampstead, North Carolina; Joan Hartwick and her husband, William, of Stockton, California; Mary Lou Williams and her husband, Steven, of Summerfield, Florida; Maureen LaGrange and her husband, Roger, of Cranston; and John Ploude of Coconut Creek, Florida. He was predeceased by his beloved son, David Ploude, Jr., and his siblings, Albert Ploude and Michael Ploude, Sr.
His memory will live on through his grandchildren, Dylan, Evin, Madison, Ryan, Owen, Aryana, and Riley, who brought him great pride and joy. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will deeply miss his presence, his guidance, and his willingness to help whenever it was needed.
David will be remembered as a hardworking, dependable man who showed his care for others through action rather than words. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the work he took pride in, and the countless ways he made life better for those around him.
David’s life will be celebrated privately by his family.
