Daniel J. Darcy, 60, of Fall River, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Helen (Crossley) and Edward F. Darcy.
Dan began his journey as a Bridgewater State Bear in 1983. In 1988 he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from Bridgewater State College followed by a Master of Education in Counseling with a concentration in Student Personnel Services in 1990.
Dan began working in the higher education field in 1990 as the Area Director for the Office of Residence Life and Assistant to the Dean of Students at the University of Tampa in Tampa, Florida. In 1993 he worked at Lynn University, in Boca Raton, Florida, as the Director of Residence Life and Housing. In 1996 Dan returned to the northeast and worked as the Assistant Director of Student Activities for Orientation and Fraternity and Sorority Life at Bridgewater State University. In 2001, he began an 18-year stay at Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts serving the final 10 years of his stay as the Associate Dean of Students/Director of Student Activities. In 2020 Dan returned home to Bridgewater State University as the Director of Alumni & Student Engagement where he remained until his death.
Dan was a Member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, the Sigma Phi Epsilon National Fraternity, Florida Zeta Chapter, and the Phi Pi Delta Co-Educational Fraternity, Alpha Chapter.
Dan dedicated his life to working in higher education. He served on numerous committees, was part of numerous associations and was the recipient of many awards. Such notable awards included the Emmanuel College Campus Life Award and the Bridgewater State University Alumni Association Outstanding Dedication to Students Award. One of his proudest achievements was serving as President of the Bridgewater State University Alumni Association. Dan’s office was always a place of welcome, where good conversation, candy and music were to be found.
If there was one word to describe Dan it would be genuine.
Dan exhibited a love of life for the people who surrounded him, and his positivity was felt by anyone who encountered him. He loved spending time with his family and friends, whether it be holding court at family gatherings, sharing amusing stories from his life, or quizzing folks with his vast musical knowledge. His passions included music, New England sports teams, Facebook surveys and celebrating Christmas.
Dan is survived by his beloved siblings, Paul Darcy (wife Joyce), Jane Darcy, Thomas Darcy (wife Eloisa), John Darcy (wife Claudia), and Joan Valcourt (husband Vaughn). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who held a special place in his life. He was predeceased by his brother Stephen J. Darcy.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S. Main Street, Fall River.
Daniel’s funeral will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Parish, 1598 S. Main St.
Burial is Private.
