Fall River

Corey A. Sousa, of Fall River, 28, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 22, 2025, after a long courageous battle. He was the husband of Aleesha (Chaves) Sousa. Corey was a beloved husband, son, brother, son-in-law, and friend, who touched the lives of many during his time with us.

Born with an innate ability to make others laugh, Corey had a unique talent for brightening even the dullest of days. His infinite humor and compassion endeared him to all, as he was often the central figure around which his family gathered, a magnetic force that drew people together. In moments of joy or trials, he was the one who would often take the shirt off his back to help anyone in need, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to his loved ones and community.

An avid fan of video games, Corey found solace and excitement in a virtual realm that allowed him to escape reality and connect with friends across distances. Corey traveled and played competitively in video game tournaments. His enthusiasm extended beyond gaming; he was a passionate fan of Star Wars, a saga that captured his imagination and fueled his interests. In the realm of sports, he was a passionate supporter of Benfica F.C., proudly cheering on his team, while also embodying the unwavering spirit of a true New England sports fan. Corey also loved his cat, Jax.

His most profound love was reserved for his family, who were the very essence of his existence. He cherished each one, creating an environment filled with love, laughter, and support.

Besides his loving wife, Corey is survived by his mother Helena (Tavares) Esteireiro, and his step-father Sergio Esteireiro. His father, Luis Sousa. His brothers, Kyle Sousa and wife Jessica Sousa, Cameron Sousa, and step-sister, Olivia Esteireiro. His mother-in-law, Nancy (Faria) Chaves, and father-in-law, Joe Chaves; his brothers-in-law, Joseph Chaves, and Ayden Chaves. His niece, Alaia Sousa, and his nephew, Blake Chaves. And childhood best friends Dylan Barreira and Samantha Barreira.
