Constance L. Clairmont

April 23, 1934 — April 11, 2026

Fall River

Constance “Connie” Clairmont of Fall River passed peacefully on April 11, 2026, in the company of loving family. A lifelong resident of Fall River, she was born on April 23, 1934, the oldest daughter of Real and Ruth Rousseau (nee Cartier) and sister of Anne and deceased brothers Gilbert, Walter and Richard.

Constance attended Jesus-Mary Academy and later earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education followed by a Master’s degree in French from the Rhode Island College, while raising her four children. She was a home economics teacher in the Fall River school system for four decades. For many years she was a Girl Scout leader and taught sewing classes from her home. She was an active member of the Parish of Notre Dame de Lourdes (St. Bernadette) and more recently attended St. Theresa Parish.

Constance married her late husband Maurice after his service with the Marine Corps in 1954. Maurice, a former typesetter at the Fall River Herald News, later ran an ESL materials publishing business at Lesley College. The couple celebrated nearly 43 years of marriage until his passing. Besides raising their family, they had a passion for boating with family and friends, spending many weekends on Narragansett Bay or taking trips further afield to Block Island or Cuttyhunk.

One of Constance’s endearing qualities was her passion for her family. She enjoyed following the various interests and pursuits of her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. An avid reader, crafter, and gardener, she also loved exploring new places, dancing, and learning throughout her life. She continually hosted family gatherings where her smile would begin every greeting and her enthusiasm for a grand time never waned.

Constance is survived by her children Corinne (Henry), Catherine (Patrick), Caren (Thomas), and Celeste (Scott); her seven grandchildren—Lea, Kevin, Danielle, Jeffrey, Allison, Marisa, and Adrian; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 10:00 AM in Saint Theresa Catholic Church, 265 Stafford Road, Tiverton, Rhode Island. Interment will be private.
