Claire (Sousa) Masciarelli

Claire (Sousa) Masciarelli, 86, of Main Rd. Tiverton, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021.  She was the wife of Alfred J. “Fred” Masciarelli.  They shared 62 years of marriage.

A school teacher, she taught for 31 years in Portsmouth, RI schools.  Working alongside her husband at Poirier’s Auto School, she served as Vice President, Treasurer and instructor for over 20 years.  She enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe, reading, cooking and family gatherings. Claire was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church.

She was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Carreira) Sousa;

sister of Mary Jane Rebello (husband late William) and Anthony Sousa (wife Linda), aunt of William Rebello, Jr., Christopher Rebello and Andrew Paul Sousa;

A private Funeral Mass at Holy Ghost Church was celebrated with burial at Notre Dame Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, 733 Third Avenue Ste. 510
