Charles M. O'Brien, 83, of Tiverton, departed this life on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
Charles was employed for over 20 years with the Town of Tiverton.
He is remembered not only for his career but also for his multifaceted skills, as he was known to many as a Jack of all Trades.
He proudly served in the Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
An avid reader, Charles found joy and peace in the pages of countless books.
He had a passion for boating and fishing, which led him to become a member of the King Philip Yacht Club, and he cherished the time spent on the water aboard his beloved boat named "Dorothea."
He was married to his beloved wife, Dorothy O'Brien, for 37 wonderful years. He also leaves his son Charles D. O'Brien, his wife Tracey; son Michael O'Brien; daughter Cynthia Petty, her husband Russell, and stepson Ronald Richard; two grandchildren, Jessica Petty and Ronald Richard Jr., and great-granddaughter Ariana Flores.
He is also survived by his sisters, Julie O'Hanley of Fall River and Nancy O'Hanley of Ventura, California, and several nephews and nieces.
Preceding him in death were his father, Charles Cummings O'Brien; his mother, Julie Lillian (Ouellette) Hanley; his stepfather Ernest W. Hanley; his stepdaughter, Lisa Pimental; and his brother, Robert O'Brien.
Charles M. O'Brien will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, his love for family and friends, and his lifelong passion for learning and adventure.
