Arthur J. "Art" Bessette

Arthur J. "Art" Bessette, Jr., 65, of Westport, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012. A self-employed automobile mechanic, he was a race car enthusiast. He was the son of Aurore (Létourneau) Bessette of Swansea and the late Arthur J. Bessette, Sr.; the husband of the late Madeline (Thorpe) Desrosiers Bessette; the former husband of Diane Bessette LaPlante of Westport; the father of Christine Spooner and Michelle Velozo, both of Westport, and Laurie Rapoza and Jennifer Phillips, both of Fall River; the brother of Suzanne Holden of Swansea; and also leaves 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His funeral service will be held this evening, Thursday, at 7:00 PM in the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Cremation to follow. Visitation, this evening prior to the service from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
