Albert J McCoy passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026. Born in Fall River to Raymond and Germaine (Albert) McCoy, he was the husband of the late Charlotte Patricia (Costa) McCoy.
Al leaves two sons Douglas Louis and Timothy Patrick and a daughter Kelly Jean Trusilo, husband Matthew and two granddaughters Grace Charlotte and Madeleine Frances, as well as his sisters June Wylie and Anne Hewitt (husband Richard), and brother Ronald McCoy. Predeceased by brothers Leonard and Paul and sister Elaine Campbell. He had a great extended family with many brothers and sisters in law, nieces, and nephews.
Dad graduated from MSGR Prevost in 1956 and later earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from UMass Dartmouth (Formerly SMU). As a young man, he worked as a pressman at the Fall River Herald News. In 1978, he began his credit union career as the manager and treasurer of St Jean Baptiste Credit Union, (SJB), where he worked for over thirty-five years. He was a past President and Director of the William J. Cyr Chapter of Massachusetts Credit Unions.
Dad served in the Massachusetts National Guard and was activated during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in Operations and Intelligence. An avid golfer, he was a member and elected treasurer of Montaup Country Club for thirty years. He loved his Boston teams, and every Bruins playoff win was celebrated with a clam boil. Later in life he became a proud Grampy, volunteered at the Holy Trinity Soup Kitchen, and was a regular member of the McDonald’s Breakfast Club.
Dad’s life will be celebrated with a Mass on Saturday, June 6th at 10:00am, Holy Trinity Church, Stafford Road, Fall River. The family will greet guests at the church at 9:00am. All are welcome.
Dad has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations are made to the Holy Trinity Soup Kitchen.
