Richard Viveiros, well known as “Lefty” or “Rick” passed away on Sunday January 14, 2024 at home.

Richard was a graduate of B.M.C Durfee High School. After that he went onto make a career for himself at Sears and Roebuck in RI where he became management and ran his own department in warehouse and shipping for years until retirement. Richard and his wife later moved into an apartment complex where he stumbled upon them needing a manager to maintain the facility so he stepped up to the job and he took on the role of Apartment Complex Manager. He made many new friends there and he enjoyed helping the residents that resided in the complex. A little later in life as his parents grew older Richard and his wife moved close to them and spent the rest of their lives near home close to family.
From a young age Richard was an avid sports fan and became a very competitive athlete. He played basketball at the CYO from a young age and always had a passion for both baseball and softball. He earned himself a spot on both the Basketball and Baseball Team at B.M.C. Durfee High School. Richard liked to play fast pitch softball at Kennedy Park where he also earned a spot on the Falstaff Brewers Team and went off with the team to The National Championship in Springfield, Missouri where they won! He set amazing records and helped to win many championships.
For those who called Richard “Lefty”…. The name actually came from sports. Richard was a right handed man but as soon as you put him out on the field to play sports, he played all games Left Handed!!!
Richard never lost his love for sports and remained a faithful fan of all New England Sports Teams! To this day Richard never missed watching a Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, or Bruins Game.
As Richard grew older his love for sports never changed and he picked up playing golf more as an adult than he did when he was younger. He loved to spend time on the golf course with his father as well as with his uncles and cousins. Richard was a member of The Green Valley Golf Course in Portsmouth, as well as at the Montaup Country Club.
Richard was a very well known member at The Liberal Club and spent many mornings and afternoons there with all his friends reminiscing and playing cards. He also loved going to the casino with his friends. Richard was also a member of The Don Carlos Club.
