Rita (Bartlett) Berube

Mary L.R. “Rita” Berube, 97, formerly of Fall River, passed into eternal rest on Friday, August 23, 2019. She was the wife of the late Robert Berube.

Rita Berube loved caring for children. Many families never saw the inside of a daycare center thanks to her selfless care. She was very dedicated to her church (former) St. Louis Parish in Fall River and displayed an unwavering generosity to many. She spent the last two decades of her life in the loving care of the staff at the Sacred Heart Nursing Home, in New Bedford. Her family could not possibly thank the staff enough for the amazing love and attention they provided during her residency.

She leaves three sons, Ronald Berube (wife Maria) of Fall River, Denis Berube of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and Donald Berube (wife Brenda) of Winter Garden, Florida; a brother, Arthur Bartlett Jr. of Georgia and sister, Florence Pregana of New Bedford, Massachusetts. She also leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Rita Berube was the daughter of late Arthur and Regina (Clermont) Bartlett. She was predeceased by her siblings the late Eva Michel, Blanche Soucy, Theresa Bouchard, Normand Bartlett and Louis Bartlett.

Following cremation, her Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 a 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at Saint James Church, 233 County St, New Bedford, MA. Interment to follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. A wake will be held at the church from 9:00 to 10:00 that morning.
