Paul L. Melanson

Paul L. Melanson, 79, husband of the late Lorraine C. (Turgeon) Melanson, of Shawomet Ave., Somerset, passed away after a sudden illness,  Thursday, December 20, 2018.

A Graduate of Diman Regional Vocational High School.  A Veteran of the United States Navy , he was also a member of the V.F.W.  He served 26 year's with the United States Postal Service in Somerset and Fall River.  A former Somerset Police Constable and, former member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus.

He was an avid golf player and enthusiast.  Paul lead a very active life,  he coached his two son's and daughter's Little league Teams,  played on the Diman Vocational Alumni Basketball team in the "90's", and he especially Loved to dance. 

His passions were going to Disney World with his family, Watching Westerns and going to Red Sox games with his kids and Grand kids. 

He was a huge Celtic's fan. His biggest Passion was his love for Food & going out to eat.  He Loved meeting his friends at the Mall to have coffee every morning and grab a power walk & also enjoyed His weekly dinners with his sister, Pauline  & doing Electrical work with his son Ray.  He had a real zest for Life and Liked to keep busy.  He will be greatly Missed.

He leaves five children, Denise Vezina (husband Robert) of Fort Myers, FL, Michelle Simoneau of Manville, RI, Michael Melanson (wife Mary) of Georgetown, KY, Raymond Melanson (wife Donna) of Swansea and Danielle Melanson of New Bedford; seven grandchildren, Sean (wife Taylor) and Alyssa Winbourne, Katelynn, Nathan and Mitchell Melanson and Stephanie Simoneau; a great-grandchild, Brady Winbourne.

He also leaves behind a sister, Pauline Zalkind, of Fall River. He was the father of the late Diane M. Melanson, the brother of the late David Melanson of Worcester, MA ,and the son of the late Edouard and Anita (Arsenault) Melanson of Fall River.

 Visitation, at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, Thursday from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. 

A funeral service with military honors, at 6:00 P.M. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
