Lucille (Lemieux) Leitao

Lucille Lemieux Leitao, 88, a native of Fall River and wife of the late Manuel Almeida Leitao, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Sakonnet Bay retirement community. She was a woman of steadfast faith who devoted her life to her family and service to God and community.

Wherever life had taken her and her family, Lucille was involved at her local parish and deeply involved in raising her children. Upon her husband’s untimely passing in 1986 and as a vocation that lasted for more than a quarter century, she set about handcrafting a Baptismal garment for every infant Baptized at Saint Mary's parish in Ridgefield, CT as a keepsake for the child and heirloom for the family. The work was lovingly performed as a remembrance of her late husband and as a “prayer in motion” for the well-being of her children and grandchildren. 

As the wife of a corporate executive, Lucille traveled with Manuel extensively around the world yet she kept close in her heart the experiences of her youth and her ties to family in the Fall River area. It is to the Fall River area that she returned in her later years to enjoy the comfort and care of her extended family.

Lucille is survived by her four children: Donna, Michael, Robert and Kevin who are Fall River natives and her five grandchildren.

Lucille’s visitation will be held Tuesday, January 22nd at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S.Main St. Fall River, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Lucille’s funeral will be held at 9 am on Wednesday, January 23rd at Espirito Santo Church in Fall River. Please meet at church. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery.  Online guest book at AuclairFuneralHome.com.
