Adelino Xavier, 95, of Fall River, husband of the late Odete (Barbosa) Xavier, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019.
Born in Salga, São Miguel, Azores, he was a farmer when he lived there and served in the Portuguese Army. When he moved to the United States, he worked as a washer for a silverware company. He was an avid Benfica fan.
He is survived by four children, Odete Demelo (husband Carlos), Martin Xavier (wife Leonor), Rosa Pinto (husband Antonio) all of Fall River, and Marina Bailey (husband Frederick) of Dartmouth; seven grandchildren, Lisa Costa, Andy Demelo, Jason and Derek Pinto, Pamela Xavier and Courtney and Preston Bailey; eight great-grandchildren, Quintin, Riley, Tayla, Xavier, Christian, Mason, Mayve and Cedric; a Godchild, George Pacheco, and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River with a Funeral Mass at Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery.
