Eunice M. (Almy) Burton, 97, of Assonet, widow of Arthur L. Burton, died Sunday, July 1, 2012.

She was employed by the Commonwealth at Taunton State Hospital. A benefactor of many charities, she also made many afghans donated to church and Paralyzed Veterans.

She leaves grandchildren, Brian Burton and his wife Lisa of Assonet, Brenda Holderness and her husband Thomas of Fall River, Beth Schoonover and her fiancé Steve Zambic of Tiverton, and Lori Pavao and her husband Joseph of Fall River; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Burton, Amy Cardosa, Thomas Holderness, III, Lyndsey Schoonover, Stacey Pavao and Joey Pavao; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a niece Grace Stanley of VA

She was the mother of the late Bruce Burton (wife late Patricia), and Carol Burton; the daughter of the late John and Rose (Berard) Almy; and sister of the late Joseph Dobson.

Following cremation, a funeral mass will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM at St. Bernard Church, Assonet.
